Artist Statement

I started my career in the medium of photography in 2015, jumping into city landscapes. As my skills with a camera and post-production grew I began to work with different settings and subjects. One of my projects includes developing a series, using smoke as my subject matter, creating a “form” out of this formless item. I have also experimented in night photography learning the technical skills to capture crisp, clean images, which have helped me to create better photos.
Photography, for me, is a way to show the viewers depictions of my imagination; the things I visualize through the viewfinder of a camera that only exist at one point in time. These candid-esque photos of my subject matters that I take convey the concept that every second, every frame of life, is different and constantly evolving. No two moments are the same, and that is what inspires my photography. This idea creates a relationship with showing a reflection of my life.
My work depicts stages of my life as I discover the photographer that I am becoming; the photographer I aspire to be.  I believe that my images improve with time while experimenting in new techniques and subject matters. As I mature as an individual, my photos do so as well.

B&W Series

This was my first series ever done. My first photography class was an introduction to black and white imagery. It helped my understand basic concepts of photography such as contrast, value, composition, and light. The series ties together as my first projeect done to gather visually appealing photos.

Night Series

This is a series from the end of my first year at Hocking. I wanted to experiment and learn how to take night images. It was a very difficult and tedious process. I definitely learned to appreciate what photographers who specialize in night shots and the amount of work the have to do. It was a good experience, and I learned to get images that I wanted.

Candle Series

This series is my 2nd one from my fall semester in 2017 as my first narrative series done. The concept of this series is that time is short, everything can change in a second, and I display this visually by taken photos frame-by-frame of a blown out candle. The images are completely different from one another and can never be captured again because they only existed at one point in time.

Studio Project

This was my first experience working in a lighting studio setting. The goal of these images was to use light and shadows to show off the form of the body in a different way. Lines and curves are emphasized through the use of contrast between the lights and shadows which makes these photos interesting.

Smoke Series

Series presented at the 2017 Hocking College Art Exhibition.

Various Works

These are just a few more images that I hope you enjoy. I have taken these over time, and compiled them into this showcase to display. These photos range from B&W, street, and portraits, including personal and school work.
